SOUTH BEND - Robert Gammage Sr., 91, of 104 N. Lombardy Drive, died at 11:10 p.m. Sunday in Transitional Health Services. Mr. Gammage retired from HOD Carriers Union Local 645. He was born May 3, 1903, in Itta Bena, Miss., and lived in South Bend since 1943.

On Feb. 13, 1932, in Belzoni, Miss., he married Jessie Griffin. She survives with a daughter, Thelma Gammage Cornelius of South Bend; four sons, Robert Jr., Nyling and Albert, all of South Bend, and Carl of Atlanta; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Metropolitan Democratic Club, NAACP South Bend Chapter, was past vice president of HOD Carriers Union Local 645 and was a volunteer for St. Joseph County Civil Defense.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services Saturday in the church. Alford's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
