Nov. 14, 1944 - April 28, 2010GRANGER - David Andrew Fuller, 65, of Granger, IN, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in his residencesurrounded by his loving family and friends. Mr. Fuller was born November 14, 1944, in Conneaut, OH, to Maryalice (Hall) and the late Merle L. Fuller, and had lived in the South Bend area since 1984, coming from Bloomfield Hills, MI. On June 20, 1970, in Ashtabula, OH, he married Jean E. "Liz" Eddy, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Catherine "Kat" Klockow (Mike) of Cincinnati, OH; his mother, Maryalice Fuller Eller (Ralph) of Conneaut; three brothers, Charles T. Fuller (Jane) of Albuquerque, NM, William B. Fuller (Patricia) of Ravenna, OH, and James A. Fuller (Ann) of Ashtabula; one step-sister, Suellen Eller Medd of Alexandria, VA; and three stepbrothers, John T. Eller (Sandra) of Newbury, NH, William Eller (Helen) of Goshen, OH, and James Eller (Margaret) of Sun River, MT. Dave enlisted in the Army in his senior year of college and fought in the Vietnam War in the Special Forces as a medic in the Green Berets. Upon graduation from Cleveland State, he continued his education at Michigan State University, graduating in 1974 with an MBA in Logistics. He was employed by Bendix Transportation, later Allied Signal, which led to his move to South Bend in 1984 with his family. In 1990 David and his wife Jean (Liz) started their own business, UniTrans Logistics. He remained company president until his death. A lifetime lover of fishing, David spent many weekends wading through the streams and rivers of Michigan and Indiana. When he couldn't be fishing, he spent many hours tying flies and building fly rods. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, The Elkhart Conservation Club and the St. Joseph Valley Fly Fishers, and served as treasurer of the Federation of Fly Fishers national board of directors. David was also very active in the Masonic Community. He was Past Master and Secretary of Council Oak Lodge No. 745; Thrice Potent Master, South Bend Lodge of Perfection, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend. He was a member of York Rite bodies: South Bend Chapter No. 29, South Bend Council No. 82, South Bend Commandery No. 13. He was well-known in the transportation community. He was a member of both Delta Nu Alpha and the South Bend Transportation Club, and was a certified member of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8th, in the First Presbyterian Church, 333 W. Colfax Ave., South Bend, with Rev. Robert Agnew officiating. Cremation will follow with burial to take place at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Ashtabula, at a later date. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 7th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, where a Masonic memorial service, with Council Oak Lodge #745, will be held at 7:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Learning Center for Children in South Bend, the Masonic Home of Indiana, Izaak Walton League, or to the St. Joseph River Valley Fly Fishers (SJRVFF).
