MISHAWAKA - Ugo G. Frisoni, 89, of Mishawaka, died Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 3:20 a.m. at Holy Cross Village in South Bend. Ugo was born May 25, 1920, in Santarcangelo, Italy, to the late Aurelio and Sylvia (Paglierani) Frisoni. On January 11, 1945, in Mishawaka, Ugo married the former Florence Helen Beelaert, who survives along with one daughter, Denise (David) Miller of Santa Fe, NM; one son, Alan (Jean) Frisoni of Naperville, IL; eight grandchildren, Scott, Christiann, Todd, Matt, Lisa, Kathleen, Elizabeth and Colleen; and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Anna Biesbrouck of Phoenix, AZ; and a brother, Delio Frisoni of Mishawaka, IN. Ugo served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and was discharged in 1945 while recovering from his war injury. Returning to Mishawaka, he worked as chief engineer for Studebaker's in South Bend for 25 years. He and Florence then moved to Detroit where he worked for the Ford Motor Company. Known as "Mr. Doors," he was the principal design engineer for the doors on the then newly created Ford Taurus model. He retired in 1986 after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he and Florence moved back to Mishawaka where he known for his daily exercise regimen, which he maintained until his early eighties. He looked forward to spending winters in Florida as well as being with his family. He was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, the De Amici's Club where he served as treasurer for many years, the B-K Club and the Elks. Visitation for Ugo will be today, January 11th, from 3-7 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church, with the Rev. Barry England officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
