Nellie L. Fredericks

Nellie L. Fredericks, 100, of 11170 Idlewood Drive, Osceola, Ind., passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, in the home of her second cousin, David Runnels, where she'd been looked after for three years. She was born in Knox, Ind., on March 21, 1901, to Joseph and Alma (Frisbee) Laffin.

 

She moved to Mishawaka, Ind., around 1920, stayed with relatives, and worked at the Singer Trunk Factory where she met Delbert Fredericks, to whom she was married on July 24, 1926. She later worked at Uniroyal from where she retired about 1966 in order to care for Delbert, who was then paralyzed from the waist down. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1968. They had no children. She was the last of eight children to survive in her family.

 

Nellie was a member of the East United Methodist Church of Mishawaka. She had faithfully attended services at Faith Community Church with the Runnel's family while residing with them.

 

Pastor John Seiter of Faith Community Church will officiate at her funeral services at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Contributions may be made to the Foundation of Hope through the Faith Community Church or to a charity of your choice.
