MISHAWAKA - Ronald R. Foulks, 69, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away in the Saint. Joseph Regional Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. He was born October 25, 1938, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Milford and Norma (Zantello) Foulks. Ron was a Riley High School graduate.

 

Ron was married to Patricia L. Brown on August 17, 1989, in Bremen, Indiana. She survives along with their daughter, Rachel M. Foulks of Mishawaka. Also surviving are his son, Ronald R. (Audrey) Foulks Jr. of Osceola; his stepdaughter, Wendy L. (Douglas) Barnes of South Bend; and his stepson, Jay (Rusty) Hill of Osceola. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Laureen Foulks, Dustin R. Foulks, Sarah K. Foulks, Zachary M. Foulks, Casie M. Foulks, Skyler G. Foulks, Haley M. Barnes, Dean J. Barnes, Cleo G. Barnes, Dakota J. Hill and Orion J. Hill. His beloved bird JoJo also survives.

 

Ron was employed by Kaser-Spraker Construction for the past several years both in the office and the field. Ron began his career in construction in 1963 after serving the Air Force where he was stationed at Minot, South Dakota, and served as a crew chief for the B-52 Bomber. While in South Dakota, Ron also worked on a horse ranch. Ron joined the Carpenter Apprenticeship Program in 1963 and he has worked as a carpenter ever since. Ron was a superintendent of construction at numerous construction companies in South Bend. He was an apprentice teacher for the Indiana Building Trades. Even though he wasn't a fan of swimming, Ron loved boats. He was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1991-2003. Ron was also very interested in how computers worked and took quite a few classes at Ivy Tech to learn more about them.

 

The visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, located at 505 West 8th Street in Mishawaka. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
