Bertha Mae Foulks

Feb. 14, 1917-Dec. 30,1992

Services for Bertha Mae Foulks, 75, of 1626 Florence St., who died at 1:28 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, will be at noon Saturday in Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery [South Bend Indiana].

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Alford's Mortuary.  Memorial contributions may be made to C.E. Bennett Scholarship Fund, Saint Memorial Church of God in Christ, 323 S. Liberty St., South Bend, Ind. 46619.

 

Mrs. Foulks was born Feb. 14, 1917, in Paducah, Ky., and lived in South Bend since 1948, coming from Paducah.  On Nov. 21, 1947, in Hickman, Ky., she married Johnson Foulks.  He survives, with two stepdaughters, Henrietta Taylor of Bridley, Tenn., and Ethel Foulks of Mount Vernon, Ill.; three sons, Elijah Fisher and Willie Foulks, both of South Bend, and Arthur Lax of Kankakee, Ill.; two foster daughters, Lolita Johnson and Tina Johnson, both at home; a foster son, Tony Johnson at home; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lizzie Herron, Florence Humphrey, and Inez Douglas, all of South Bend; and three brothers, Elijah Lax, Frank Lax, and Milton Lax, all of South Bend.  She was a member of the church.
