Charles Edward Foster

Charles Edward Foster, 83, of Homewood Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away in his residence following a short illness at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. Charles was born on November 8, 1916, in Mishawaka to John and Elvah Mae Foster.

 

On Nov. 2, 1940, he was united in marriage to Beatrice E. Colclesser, in the church now known as the Albright United Methodist Church. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, being honorably discharged from service in 1945. Upon his discharge, he returned to this area, taking a job at Dodge Manufacturing Company, in Mishawaka. In 1946, Charles took his postal exam, and passing it, he became a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired in 1975, after serving 24 years. Charles was a life member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was head usher for many years for the Mishawaka High School football and basketball games.

 

Charles is survived by his wife, Beatrice, and by their two children, Peggy Foster of Mishawaka and Randy Foster of Mill Creek, Ind. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jessica and Joseph Foster.

 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11 in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, where friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of services. Officiating the service will be Rev. Ken Mahan. Burial is to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Albright United Methodist Church, in lieu of flowers.
