MISHAWAKA – Peter Forte, 72, of 955 Margan Street, Clinton, Ind. died at 11 p.m. Saturday in Veterans Hospital, Hines, Ill., after an illness of eight months. He was born in Asiago, Italy and came to this country 56 years ago. He was a retired coal miner.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews of the South Bend-Mishawaka area. They are John, Andrew and Joseph Forte, all of Mishawaka; Mrs. Theresa Nyers of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Jennie Casper of Niles.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the DeVos Funeral Chapel and until the time of services at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Monica’s Catholic Church. Rev. Leo A. Hoffman, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Forte was a veteran of World War I. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
