Robert J. Forsberg Sr. (July 13, 1931 - Nov. 20, 2007)

SOUTH BEND - Robert J. Forsberg Sr., 76, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 20, in his home. He retired in 1986 from Bendix Corporation in machine repair. He was born on July 13, 1931, in South Bend, IN, to Edward and Marie (Szabo) Forsberg, and was a lifelong resident. On October 2, 1971, in South Bend, IN, he married Shirley J. (Buckner) Forsberg, who preceded him in death February 27, 2007. Mr. Forsberg is survived by two daughters, Vicky Diamond of Zephyr Cove, NV, and Cheryl (Jerry) Bowers of South Bend; six sons, Robert Forsberg Jr., and Chris (Vicki) Forsberg, both of South Bend, Joseph Forsberg of North Carolina, Jimmy Hendricks of CA, Billy Hendricks of South Bend and Rob Hendricks of Boise, ID; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Marie (John) Yandl of Osceola. A brother, Edward Forsberg, preceded in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 26, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Terry Fisher will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from noon until time of services on Monday in the funeral home. A special thank you to Debbie from Harbor Light Hospice. Note:  Robert J. (Julius) Forsberg’s mother was truly Marie Katherine Benko, she changed her surname to Szabo when she immigrated to the US from Hungary.
