Lawrence "Spink" De Wulf, 78, of Village Circle, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 9:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Lawrence "Spink" was born on Dec. 1, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., as the son of the late Henry and Martha (Madou) De Wulf Sr. Lawrence "Spink" was preceded in death by a son, John Ernest De Wulf in 1956.

 

On March 3, 1997, in Naples, Fla., Lawrence "Spink" married Shirley Taylor. Lawrence "Spink" is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sisters, Joann Orvitz of Roseville, Calif., Patricia Sabbe of Farmington, Mich.; three brothers, Henry of Chesterton, Ind., Harold of South Bend and Richard of Naples; and by many loving nieces and nephews.

 

Lawrence "Spink" worked for De Wulf's Plumbing for 35 years before he retired in 1987. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Lawrence "Spink" served his country during World War II where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Lawrence was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Di Amici's and the VFW Post 360. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 172.

 

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 9, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, in the Hahn Funeral Home. Rev. Barry England will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
