Ronald A. DePastine

GRANGER - Ronald A. DePastine, 70, of Granger, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010, in his residence surrounded by his loving family at his bedside. Ronald was born on February 27, 1940, in Providence, RI, to the late Alfredo and Gladys L. (Fuller) DePastine Ronald married the former Rosemary DiGirolamo on November 27, 1974, in Mishawaka, IN. Ronald and Rosemary shared 35 wonderful years of marriage together. Ronald is survived by his wife Rosemary and their three daughters, Dawn (Phil) Barney of New Hampshire, Kristine (Tim) Chapman of South Bend, IN, and Kara Mitchell of Mishawaka, IN. Ronald was a loving and caring grandfather to six grandchildren, Mitchell, Matthew Barney, Christopher, Donovan, Nicole Mitchell and Cole Chapman. Also surviving are a brother, Paul DePastine of Providence, RI, along with several nieces and nephews from Rhode Island. Also Ronald's special four-legged companion, Bella, a Golden Doodle. A sister, Marian Hart, preceded Ronald in death. Ronald served his country in The United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in 1962. Ronald was a fan of the Boston Red Sox baseball and Boston Celtics basketball team. Ronald moved to the Midwest in 1971. He became a Notre Dame basketball season ticket holder for over 30-plus years and a Chicago Cubs baseball fan. He was employed as a General Manager for several Rubber Industries, which included Uniroyal and the B.F. Goodrich Corporation. He retired after 45 years of service. Ronald later became a consultant to the rubber industry after his retirement. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21st, from 4-7 p.m., with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. The family requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or to a charity of the donor's choice.
