SOUTH BEND - Mary DePaepe, 100, passed away in her home on Thursday, February 18. Mary was born on November 29, 1909, in Belgium, to Morris and Julia (Van Hull) Polinck. She came to the United States in 1923 as a teenager with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William De Paepe in July 1974; a brother, Al Polinck; a daughter-in-law, Ruth DePaepe. On September 19, 1929, she married Cyriel DePaepe, who preceded her in death on February 22, 1985. Surviving are her grandchildren, Lynne (Don) Howard, Richard DePaepe, Robert (JoEllen) DePaepe, Janet (Michael) Wozniak and Terry DePaepe, all of South Bend; and her great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Christopher DePaepe. Mary was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church. She loved to knit and crochet, and enjoyed spending much time gardening. She loved being with her family and friends. Visitation will be held today, February 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 22, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bavo Catholic Church and School, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
