South Bend Tribune, Local Obituary; April 6, 1946

Mrs. Stella Deka, age 67, died at 5:05 p.m. Friday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Buysse, 2618 Newcomb street, after a week’s illness. She was born in South Bend Sept. 28, 1878. Her husband, Bernard, died 22 years ago. Surviving are a son, John; four daughters, Mrs. Martha George, of Elkhart, Ind.; Mrs. Clementine Moskwinski, Mrs. Clara Borowski and Mrs. Buysse, all of South Bend; two brothers, John and Leo Piasecki, both of South Bend; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Ruth and Mrs. Anna Plocki, both of South Bend, and Mrs. Harriet Zaradi, of Miner, Nev., and six grandchildren. Friends will be received after 10 a.m. Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Borowski, 509 South Brookfield street. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Adalbert’s Catholic church with Rev. Ignatius J. Gapczynski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Polish cemetery. Mrs. Deka was a member of St. Joseph’s society No. 65, Polish Women’s alliance.
