MISHAWAKA - Charles J. DeGroote, aged
73, of 111 N. Spring Street, lifelong resident of this city, died
of pneumonia at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Hospital. He
had been ill two weeks. He was employed for 40 years by the Dodge
Manufacturing Corporation. He was born Feb. 27, 1965 in this
city.
He was married 47 years ago to Josephine Herzog
who died 25 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William
Singer, Roseland this county, and Miss Beatrice DeGroote at home,
a brother, Rev. John F. DeGroote CSC, of Notre Dame, and two
grandchildren, Mary Grace and Martha Singer, Roseland.
Mr. DeGroote was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
Friends will be received in the Sprague Chapel until the funeral
at 10 a.m. in the church. Father DeGroote will officiate and
burial will be in St. Jsoeph Cemetery.
