Maureen E. (Thornton) DeFauw, 49, of Park Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died Sunday evening, June 3, in Memorial Hospital. Maureen was born Feb. 2, 1952, in South Bend, to John and Betty (Lawrence) Thornton of South Bend, who survive.

In 1974 Maureen married Gene A. DeFauw, who survives. She is also survived by a son, Keith B. DeFauw of South Bend; and by a brother, Brian Thornton of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sean Thornton.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today in the Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Services will begin at 6 p.m. Maureen was a member of PANA (Park Avenue Neighbor-hood Association), was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, and attended Holy Cross Junior College.
