SOUTH BEND - Dorcas L. Deeds, 85, of Rexford Drive, died of natural causes at 6:50 p.m. Friday in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Mrs. Deeds was born Feb. 20, 1910, in Cleveland, Tenn.
In 1947, in South Bend, as Dorcas L. Whitaker, she married Wayne G. Deeds. He survives with two daughters, Delores Whitaker and Kathy Niblick, both of South Bend; a son, Joseph Whitaker of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, J.B. Goins of Florence, Ala. A son, Robert Whitaker, died in August 1995. She was a member of Michiana Community Church of God, Granger.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
