MISHAWAKA - Oscar Cavanah Jr., 84, was called by our loving Father to be with his wife, Mamie, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, in his residence. Oscar was born on December 24, 1922, in Webster County, Kentucky, to Oscar and Mary E. (Price) Cavanah.

 

On July 24, 1948, in Dixon, KY., Oscar married Mamie L. Jones. Mamie preceded Oscar in death on June 1, 1996. Oscar is survived by his children, Brenda (Roger) Bush of Danville, IN, Glenna (Jerry) Miller of South Bend, IN, and Jerry (Mary Ann) Cavanah of Mishawaka, IN; six grandchildren, Sarah Wise of Mishawaka, James Andrew (Susan) Wise of Plainfield, IN, Tessa Cavanah of Cincinnati, OH, Kate (Eric) Zbrzezny of Mishawaka, Jeremy (Michele) Rohyans of Mishawaka and Brooke (Jason) Henry of Mishawaka; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Chlorice Gibson of South Bend, IN. A brother, Cecil Cavanah, also preceded Oscar in death. Oscar was member of Albright United Methodist Church, V F W #360 and F.O.E. Mishawaka. Oscar was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Oscar retired from Uniroyal where he worked for 30 years. Oscar also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

 

Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will also take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2007. Rev. Warren Kirkwood will officiate the services with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mishawaka.
