MISHAWAKA - Herbert A. Cass, 85, of
White Oak Drive, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's
Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. Mr. Cass retired
from Eckrich Meat Co., after 38 years of service. He was born
April 3, 1908, in Ligonier, and was a lifelong area resident.
On Oct. 30, 1932, in Ligonier, he married
Donnabelle T. Taylor. She died Dec. 30, 1993. He is
survived by a son, Robert of South Bend; five grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Maurice of Wolcottville,
Leeland of Indianapolis, and Donald of Angola, Ind. He was a
member of Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553 and Sacred
Heart Basilica.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the
Basilica. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Oak Park Cemetery,
Ligonier. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hickey
Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, where a combined rosary will
be said at 7:30 p.m. by the parish and Knights of Columbus.
