James J. Carvelli

November 20, 1904 – November 11, 1983

James J. Carvelli, 78, of Rt 3, New Carlisle, died at 2:33am today in LaPorte Hospital, after an illness of one month.  He was a retired machinist from Interlakes Steel in Riverdale IL.

Born on November 20, 1904, in Chicago, he had lived in New Carlisle for 13 years, coming from Chicago.  On July 9, 1945, in Chicago, he married Courtenay Bardwell.  She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Avolio of Orland Park IL, Mrs. Bardwell Staley of Federal Dam MN; a son, R. Michael James of Dalton IL; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2pm Sunday at the H. C. Amen and Son Funeral Home in New Carlisle, with Rev. Mario Bustos, pastor of Hudson Lake Mennonite Church, officiating.  Cremation will follow at Riverview Crematory in South Bend.  Friends may call from 7 to 9pm Saturday in the funeral home.
