Cheryl E. (Hudson) Carter, 41, of 2124 West Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Ind., expired after an extended illness on Saturday, Sept. 4, in Memorial Hospital.  Cheryl was born on Jan. 5, 1959, in South Bend, to Willa Davis (Lottie) and Lucius Hudson. She received her formal education in the South Bend Community School Corporation. She took up residence in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1978, and resided there until 1997 when she was afflicted with a sudden illness and returned to South Bend.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Willa Kathleen Lottie; her father, Lucius Hudson; and her stepfather, Adolph Lottie; a maternal grandmother, Earsaline Davis; a paternal grandmother, Myrtha Fultz; two sons, David Darnell of Lennox, Calif., and Calvin Peterson, Jr., of South Bend; a daughter, Tiffany R. Peterson of South Bend; four grandchildren, Tyrone, Teeshae' and Tyrell Husband, all of South Bend, and Taylor Darnell of Lennox; two brothers, Kevin (Rhonda) Davis and Keith (Doreen) Davis, both of South Bend; three sisters, Pamela Davis of Las Vegas, Nev., Kimberly Davis of South Bend and Michele (Ronnie) Perry of South Bend; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, along with many friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Faith Baptist Church. Visitation will be at noon on Saturday in the church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home is entrusted with services.
