Brother Placidus Carroll CSC, 79, of the Congregation of the Brothers of Holy Cross, died Sunday at Notre Dame High School, Biloxi, Miss. After suffering an apparent heart attack. He was born Oct. 5, 1901 in Baltimore and received the religious habit on July 1, 1925. He made his first profession of vows on July 2, 1926, and his final profession on July 2, 1929. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1932. He was a teacher and director at the Gibault School for Boys, Terre Haute for six years.he later worked at Saint Charles Boys Home, Milwaukee, and taught at Holy Cross High School, New Orleans. He also spent five years at St, Gregory’s High School in Dacca, Bangladesh. For the past 28 years he had been at the Biloxie school.

 

Services will be at 3:30 Friday in the Chapel of St. Joseph on the Holy Cross Junior College Campus. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery on the Holy Cross campus. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of St. Joseph, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m.
