Mishawaka-Merle E. Carlton Sr., 78, died Saturday in his home of natural causes. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lain of Everett, Wash.; three sons, Roger of West Chester, Pa., Robert of Spring Branch, Texas, and Merle Jr. of Cassopolis, Mich.; a sister, Jane Frances of South Bend.
 Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Welsheimer  Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
