SOUTH BEND - Rev. Edmund V. Campers, CSC, 82, of Holy Cross House, died Wednesday in his residence after an illness. Rev. Campers was born Nov. 21, 1911, in South Boston, Mass.

He made his final vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1923, and was ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 1939. He began his ministry in Bengal missions; assisted at St. Joseph parish and St. Patrick's parish; also served in Watertown, Wis., Kingman, Ariz., Grand Canyon, Ariz., Nazareth (Mich.) College, and schools in Monroe, Mich., and Terre Haute, Ind. He retired in 1986.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Basilica. Burial will follow in the community cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday in Moreau Seminary, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
