Betty June Campbell

SOUTH BEND - Betty June Campbell, 60, residing in South Bend, passed away at 3:48 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008, in Elkhart General Hospital. She was born October 13, 1947, in London, Kentucky, the daughter of Basil and Wilma (Watkins) Poynter Sr., and had lived in South Bend since 1968, coming from Kentucky.

 

On September 2, 1967, in London, Kentucky, she was united in marriage to Bernard "Dale" Campbell. Her loving husband Dale of more than 40 years survives her. Also surviving are her four children, Laura (Daniel) Crawford of South Bend, Todd (Debra) Campbell of Knoxville, TN, Kimberly (Doug) Hayes and Melissa (Byron) Naff, both of Goshen; and her mother, Wilma Poynter of London, Kentucky. Also surviving Mrs. Campbell are her 12 grandchildren, Ashley, Phillip and Tiffany Crawford of South Bend, Madissen, Nicholas and Allyson Campbell, all of Knoxville, Drew, Chase, Colin and Lauren Hayes, all of Goshen, Tyler and Chandler Naff of Goshen. A brother, Basil Poynter Jr. of London, Kentucky, and her beloved dog, "Lucy," survive Betty as well. Her love for and faith in the Lord was her foundation as she fought ALS, until she finally was granted her miracle of healing and began her eternal life in heaven with her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Campbell was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in South Bend and TOPS/KOPS as well. She enjoyed her flowers, birds and cooking. She was a graduate of Vogue Beauty College and received her associate degree from Indiana University of South Bend.

 

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 26, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Dr. Alan Carson Sr. will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today, and 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
