Sister M. Alethea CSC, 77, of Saint Mary’s Convent died at 7:15 a.m. today in the convent. She was born Ellen Agnes Callahan on Jan. 6, 1904, in Cedar Creek, Texas, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on June 23, 1931, after coming from Austin, Texas. She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1932, and made her profession of vows on Jan. 6, 1934. During her community life, she served as an elementary school teacher in Texas, Washington DC, and New York. She lived at St. Mary’s Convent since 1976.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s with internment in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call in the convent parlors until services. A wake will be observed at 7 p.m. Thursday.
