Jerome Calderone

MISHAWAKA - Jerome Calderone, 73, of Jackson Street, died at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. Mr. Calderone retired in 1984 as owner/operator of Jerome's Tailor Shop and was a former employee of Gilbert's Men's Clothing Store, South Bend.

 

He was born June 2, 1921, in Tresilico, Reggio DiCalbia, Italy, and lived in Mishawaka since 1960, coming from Italy. On April 4, 1943, in Naples, Italy, he married Rosa Sacco. She survives with three daughters, Philomena VanVooren of Kalamazoo, Adelina Roe of LaPorte and Bettina Udongo of South Bend; three sons, Rocco of Niles and Alfonso and Angelo, both of Mishawaka; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Philomena Calderone of Mishawaka; and a brother, Joseph of Mishawaka. A son, Joseph, died Sept. 5, 1969.

 

He was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church and Diloreto Society.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where a wake will be at 6 p.m.
