Constance Bystry, 100, of West Washington Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Saint Joseph's Care Center West.

She was born Aug. 19, 1902, in South Bend, and had lived in this area all her life. Mrs. Bystry was a housewife. Constance was a member of St. Adalbert's Church, the Legion of Mary, St. Adalbert Rosary Society, Hoosier Grandmother's Club, Harvest House and the Polish Women's Association. As Constance Rybicki, she married Casimer Bystry on June 21, 1922. He preceded her in death in 1965. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Bert Bystry and Zymund Bystry; her parents, Samuel Rybicki and Bernice (Markowski) Rybicki; four brothers, Samuel Rybicki, Marion Rybicki, Chester Rybicki and Stanley Rybicki; a grandson, Lawrence Gromski; and by a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Matthews.

She is survived by two daughters, Mildred (Walter) Gromski of Florida and Theresa Widawski of South Bend; a son, Casimer Bystry Jr. of South Bend; and a daughter-in-law, Gertrude Bystry of South Bend; a brother, Sylvester "Sallie" (Irene) Rybicki; and by 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 6, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in St. Adlabert. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of St. Joseph County or to St. Adalbert Church.
