Brother DePaul Byrne CSC, 78, died Monday in Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was born Sept. 8, 1903 in Swartz Creek, Mich. and entered the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1926. He made his first profession in 1928, and assigned to the position of treasurer at the University of Notre Dame. He was appointed provincial treasurer of the Indiana Province of Holy Cross in 1943, a position he held until 1956. After serving as an accountant for the local Holy Cross houses, he retired to Holy Cross House, Notre Dame in 1967. He is survived by a sister, Miss Helen Byrne of Fort Worth, Texas, and a nephew.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame. Rev. Bernard Mullahy will officiate and burial will be in the Community Cemetery, Notre Dame. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. today in the Moreau Seminary Chapel, where a wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. today.
