15, 1942 - Jan. 5, 2010GRANGER - Jean Ann Byers, 67, residing in Granger, IN, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Golden Living Center-Fountainview, Mishawaka, IN. She was born March 15, 1942, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Guy and Rhea (Marshall) Codding, and graduated from Youngstown High School, Youngstown, OH. On August 18, 1962, in Youngstown, she married the love of her life, her junior high sweetheart, David Johnston Byers. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage until his passing on September 10, 2009. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ron and Ray Codding. Mrs. Byers is survived by one daughter, Kim (Tim) Koscher of South Bend; and two sons, Steven (Laurie) Byers and Michael (Jennifer) Byers, both of Mishawaka. Also surviving her are six grandchildren, Emily and Paul Taylor, Alex and Grace Koscher, and Rebecca and Bryson Byers; and four step-grandchildren, Gabriel, Brianna, Christopher and Melissa Hardy. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and David were rarely apart. They enjoyed traveling, and attending Notre Dame football games with family and friends. She also enjoyed her garden and many pets. She retired as an optometric technician for Dr. Stephen Bluth, and was a member of Clay Church, South Bend. Memorial services celebrating the life of Jean Ann Byers will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Clay Church, 54191 North Ironwood Road, South Bend. Rev. Herb Buwalda, pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church.
