Suzanne Williams Busch

NOTRE DAME, IN -Suzanne "Suzie" Williams Busch, 79, of Notre Dame, IN, was with her husband Tom and family at home when she joined the Lord on the evening of November 23. Suzie was born October 29, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN, to Cecile DeVor and Heber DeWitt Williams, and has one surviving brother, Richard K. Williams of Indianapolis, IN. Suzie married her devoted husband, Thomas J. Busch, on June 30, 1951, and spent a lifetime with him filled with love and happiness. Tom survives along with five children, Tom (Anne), Findlay, OH, David (Noreen), South Bend, IN, Jim (Anna Marie), Kalamazoo, MI, Debbie, Oswego, IL, and Bob (Billie), Beverly Hills, MI; and 15 awesome grandchildren. Suzie was a loving and devoted wife. As a mother she loved her children, grandchildren and extended family dearly. Through her lifetime of travel Suzie developed many close friendships with meaning and commitment. Suzie and Tom received a great deal of enjoyment entertaining family and friends throughout their marriage wherever they lived. Suzie will be affectionately remembered by her family as the "General," as a testament to her pursuit of excellence, and she will be honored at all gatherings around her chair on the North Porch in Harbor Springs, MI.

Suzie loved early evening boat cruises on Little Traverse Bay before a whitefish dinner at #1 Trillium Walk in West Wequetonsing with family and friends. Prior to moving back to South Bend for the third time, Suzie had lived in Chicago, IL, Memphis, TN, Dallas, TX, St. Louis, MO, Birmingham, MI (2), Elyria, OH, Savannah, GA, and most recently Kalamazoo, MI, but most importantly Harbor Springs, MI, where she summered since 1980 with Tom, family and friends. Upon Tom's retirement from the Bendix Corp. in Detroit, MI, Suzie and Tom moved to Savannah, GA, where they devoted many hours to community service and enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and parties with friends. Suzie had traveled the world including Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Mexico, Asia and Australia. Along with travel, Suzie's interests included entertaining, golf, cooking, and a good book. Suzanne graduated from Purdue University (BS '51) where she became a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and was a lifetime Boilermaker. She was committed to the Christ Child Society of Northern Michigan in Harbor Springs, MI, and the Junior Group of Goodwill Industries in Detroit, MI, where she contributed many hours of community service.
