John S. Burns

July 12, 1860November 11, 1928

 

John S. Burns, age 68, of 625 North Notre Dame Avenue, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Martin, of Elkhart IN, at 1:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon.  His death followed a five years’ illness of heart trouble.

 

He was born in this city July 12, 1860, and had spent all his life here with the exception of the last six months, during which time he had made his home with his daughter in Elkhart.  His wife, whom he married 46 years ago in South Bend as Miss Margaret O’Malley, died ten years ago.  Surviving are two sons, John and George Burns, of this city, and two daughters, Mrs. Martin and Miss Georgiana Burns, of South Bend.

 

Mr. Burns was a retired brick mason and was affiliated with the Brick Masons Union here.  The body may be viewed in the L. W. McGann Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning in St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, the Rev. William P. Lennartz, CSC, officiating.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

The body of John S. Burns, of 625 North Notre Dame Avenue, who died in Elkhart IN, Sunday, may be viewed in the L. W. McGann Funeral Home until the time of the funeral which will be conducted in St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning.  The Rev. William P. Lennartz, CSC, the pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
