Clara M. "Tee Dee" Burmeister, 99, of Bayswater Place, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 2:05 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind. Tee Dee was born on Jan. 5, 1901, in Briceville, Tenn., and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area. On Sept. 5, 1922 as Clara M. Carden she married Herman A. Burmeister, who preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1977.

 

Mrs. Burmeister is survived by two daughters, Eldona L. Futterknecht and Madelon M. Ginter, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, Cindy (Marv) Moore, Judy (Tim) Decker, Ron (Kathi) Ginter, and Tom (Anne) Ginter, all of South Bend; 14 great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Garrett and Grant Ginter, Matt, Doug, Joel, Tommy, Andy, and Daniel Ginter, Mindy and Eric Moore, Jennifer (Dave) Putz, Natalie Gibboney, and Jordann Decker; and by a great-great-grandson, Carter Putz. Tee Dee was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

 

Mrs. Burmeister retired from 1st Source Bank after 24 years of service. Tee Dee was well known in the Michiana area as a private piano teacher. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women's Auxiliary, the Progress Club, and the Goodwill Auxiliary of First Christian Church of South Bend.

 

Visitation hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, in Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel"  Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18 in the funeral home, with Pastor Sam Oliver officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverview Mausoleum. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in care of the "Sunshine Manor Division," 300 N. Washington St., P.O. Box 710, Wakarusa, IN 46573. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the families of Tee Dee Burmeister.
