TONI ANN BURKE

December 31, 1940 – January 6, 2006

 

Toni Ann Burke, 65, of Mishawaka, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2006, surrounded by her family in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

 

Toni was born in South Bend in December 31, 1940, a daughter of the late Harry and Juanita (Wallace) VanOoteghem.  She grew up in Port Huron MI, where she graduated from Port Huron High School.  On June 23, 1962, in Lakeville, Toni married Andrew Burke and the couple settled in Mishawaka.  She was employed for ten years at Target Department Store.  Toni attended St Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka and enjoyed activities with her husband at Elks #235 in South Bend.  She loved going to the Blue Chip Casino, Las Vegas and playing Bingo.  Toni also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

 

Toni’s greatest joy in life was her family.  They include her husband, Andy, of Mishawaka; two sons, Sean P. Burke, Special Agent, U.S. Air Force, of Tacoma, Washington, and William A. (Jennifer) Burke of Sierra Vista AZ; a brother, Steve (Carolyn) VanOoteghem of Tampa FL; a sister-in-law, Donna VanOoteghem of Mishawaka; and two grandchildren, Mikayla and Kiersten.

 

She was preceded in death by a brother, David VanOoteghem.

 

Friends may spend time with Toni’s family on Monday from 4 to 8pm in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am in St Joseph Catholic Church, 225 South Mill Street, Mishawaka.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.  Envelopes are available in the funeral home.
