Carl W. Buchmann, 82, of Rue Flambeau Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness at 8:26 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Carl was born in Payette, Idaho, on Feb. 2, 1916, and had resided in this area most of his life. He was employed at the Studebaker Corporation until their closing, and retired from the Teledyne Corporation, LaPorte, Ind., in 1978.

On Dec. 3, 1963, in Nashville, Tenn., Carl married Evelyn V. Mayes, who survives. He is also survived by four daughters, Marjorie Buchmann of Florida, Barbara Blume of Niles, Mich., Jo Ann Smith of Plymouth, Ind., and Sandra Gushwa of South Bend; a son, Carl J. of Mishawaka; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
