Nicholas Bruggner

Nicholas Bruggner, aged 72, of 843 Forrest avenue, for many years a resident here, died about 10:30 o’clock this morning in St. Joseph hospital.  He had been ill two weeks, and submitted to a major operation a few days ago.

He was the father of Louis Bruggner, of the Bruggner news agency; Miss Hildegarde M. Bruggner, secretary of the South Bend Retail Credit association, and of Frank Bruggner, all of this city; of Godfrey Bruggner, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and of Mrs. F. A. , of Denver, Colo.

Mr. Bruggner was born in Germany, and came here many years ago.

Nicholas Bruggner

Funeral services for Nicholas Bruggner, aged 73, of 843 Forrest avenue, who died Saturday forenoon in St. Joseph hospital after several weeks’ illness, will take place at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic church.  Interment will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.

Mr. Bruggner was born in Baden Germany, in August, 1860 and came here in 1887 from that country.  He was married in 1888 in Mishawaka, to Pauline Futterknecht, who survives.  He leaves also two daughters and three sons, Mrs. F. A. Teschner, of Denver, Colo.; and Miss Hildegarde M. Bruggner, of this city; Louis V. and Frank Bruggner of this city, and Godfrey, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and a brother, Vincent Bruggner, of Mishawaka.

The body will lie until the funeral in the home of the son, Louis Bruggner, 1016 California Avenue.  Mr. Bruggner was a retail shoe merchant here 25 years, retiring from active business in 1914.

Last services for Nicholas Bruggner, 843 Forrest Avenue, were conducted at 9 o’clock this morning from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic church.  Rev J. J. O’Rourke, C. S. C., pastor, read the requiem mass and interment was in Cedar Grove cemetery.
