Thomas E. Biggs, 56, of 55666 Lexington, died at 6 p.m. Sunday at home after a lengthy illness.  He was a machinist for Schafer Gear Works.  Born on May 9, 1925, in South Bend, he had lived here all his life. 

On Jan. 1957, in South Bend, he married Stella Cahill.  She survives with a stepdaughter, Mrs. Roselea Wildrick of North Liberty; a stepson, William T. Cahill of South Bend; eight step-grandchildren; and three brothers, Frederick and Patrick, both of South Bend, and Dr. Donald Biggs of Albany, N.Y.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Rev. Michael Couhig, associate pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William.  He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
