Robert C. Bickel, 79, of 302 E. Borley Ave., died at 8:57 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital after an illness.  He had retired in 1971 from Dodge Manufacturing Corp. after 32 years of service.  Born Aug. 30, 1906, in Mishawaka, he lived in this area all of his life.  In January 1959, Mr. Bickel married the former Ruth A. Sones, who died Nov. 21, 1972.  Survivors include a daughter, Winifred Avery of Mishawaka; two step-sons, Preston Holmes and Wallace Holmes, both of Mishawaka; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy F. Bickel and Gladys I. Havens, both of Mishawaka; and a brother, Donald P. Bickel of Mishawaka.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Bubb Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.  Mr. Bickel was a member of the First Christian Church in Mishawaka.  An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 161 in Mishawaka.
