Bernard J. Bickel
Bernard J. Bickel, 83, of 1007 N. Sherman
Ave., died at 10:27 a.m. Saturday at Michiana Community Hospital
after an illness. He was a retired County Building
Commissioner of St. Joseph County. Born on March 28, 1902,
in Mishawaka, he was a lifetime resident of this area. On
Sept. 6, 1928, in Chicago, he married Margaret A. Monthi,
who survives with a sister, Alice Dygulski of Mishawaka;
and two brothers, William J. Bickel of Niles, Mich. and Louis A.
Bickel of Elkhart.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the
Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be
at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to
9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Bickel was a member
of Holy Cross Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at
7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
