Donald C. Bice, 82, of Indiana Avenue, Mishawaka, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997, in his residence after an illness. Donald was born July 15, 1914, in Paulding, Ohio, to Thomas and Ola Bice. He retired in 1968 from the Mishawaka Fire Department as a firefighter. He also retired from school city in 1979.

Donald C. Bice married Peggie Louise Hartman on Aug. 21, 1941, in Mishawaka. Peggie survives along with two sons; Donald K. and his wife, Dale of Elkhart and Thomas C. and his wife, Sharon of Buena Vista, Va.; four grandsons, Mark C. Bice of Santa Rosa, Calif., Daniel P. Bice and Brandon L. Bice. both of Elkhart and Zachary E. Bice of Buena Vista, one granddaughter, Whitney N. Bice of Buena Vista; three great-grandchildren, Jared Bice of West Jordan, Utah, and Thomas and Ashley Bice, both of Elkhart; two sisters, Sylvia Galbreath of Mishawaka and Nellie Barnes of Elkhart; and a brother, Carl Bice of Mishawaka. Don was a member of the International Firefighters Association and a IIAA Official.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., where friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
