Elsie C. Betz, 85, of the Fairington Apartments, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 11:42 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, in Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Betz was born on March 6, 1912, in St. Joseph County, Ind., and was a lifetime resident of the South Bend area.
On Aug. 12, 1930, as Elsie Carrie Crilow, she married Clifford A. Betz, who preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Betz is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Mike) Borkowski of North Liberty, Ind., and Dixie Lee (Loren) Rensberger of Lakeville, Ind. Also surviving are four loving grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Crilow of South Bend; and a brother, Donald A. Crilow of Plymouth, Ind.
Mrs. Betz was a member of the Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, of South Bend Eastern Star, the Progress Club of South Bend and the Women's Society of the church.
Friends may call between 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home, West Ireland Road/State Road 23, South Bend.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, with viewing one hour prior to services in the church. Rev. Ed Owens will officiate. Burial will follow at the Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church.
