Samuel H. Berkey

Samuel H. Berkey of 1304 S. Main St., died Saturday in the Williams Guest Home, 1844 E. Calvert St. He was born in Holmes County, O. March 28, 1862.  He came with his parents by wagon trail from Ohio to the Wakarusa community when he was a child.  

 

He married Lucinda Inks Aug. 30, 1885.  She died in 1942.  He worked for 55 years for the George Wyman Co. prior to his retirement.  Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Frank J. Bruggner, with whom he lived, and Mrs. Clinton C. Brown, of Newton, Mass., four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother, Dr. Hugh Berkey, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Clara Link of Mount Vernon, S.D.  Friends may call in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral services for Samuel H. Berkey, 1304 S. Main St., who died Saturday, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home by Rev. Robert D. Wilburn, assistant pastor of the First Methodist Church.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.  Friends may call in the funeral home today and until time for services.
