SOUTH BEND - Tamika Benson departed this life at 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in Memorial Hospital. Tamika was born into time on June 21, 1976, in South Bend, Indiana, to the union of Alma L. Jack and Charlie Wright. Tamika was the seventh child of 10 children. At the age of 12, Tamika attended New Testament Baptist Church. She was educated in the South Bend Public schools. Tamika loved everything, especially going to Bingo, the Casino, playing cards and listening to music. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri, for two years but returned to South Bend. Preceding Tamika in death are her parents, Alma and Charlie, a nephew, Charles "Chuck," and a friend, T.C. She leaves to cherish fond memories two daughters, Joyce Perkins and Asia Benson; one son, Cornelius Benson; an expected grandchild, to be born to Asia; four sisters, Charlotte (Arizona), Tanya, Sher and Lakesha, all of South Bend; five brothers, Abdual, Rodrick and Ronald of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Charlie and Tony of South Bend; a host of nieces and nephews; and best friend, Lisa Samelton. Funeral services for Tamika Benson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Alford's Mortuary where arrangements have been entrusted. Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
