MISHAWAKA - James L. Bensley, 86, of
Mishawaka, passed away on Friday evening, February 22, 2008, in
Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. Jim was born November 8, 1921, in
South Bend, a son of the late Grant and Jessie (Fisk)
Bensley. He spent all his life in the Mishawaka/South Bend area
except when he served his country in the US Army from 1945 to
1948. Jim retired after 35 years with the Water Department of
Mishawaka Utilities. He was a lifetime member of VFW #360 and
enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Jim married Dorothy Cogill on July
15, 1948, in Rossville, Georgia. He was preceded by his beloved
wife in 1981. Also preceding Jim in death were 12 siblings.
Services for Jim will be held at 3 p.m. on
Sunday, March 2nd, in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral
Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. His brother-in-law, Mel Friesen,
will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March
2nd, in the funeral home. A private burial will be on Monday,
March 3rd, at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial
contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
