MISHAWAKA - Mildred S. Belting, 92, formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, in the former J and D Homecare, where she had resided for the past eight years. Mildred was born on Sept. 1, 1905, in Mishawaka, to Frederick and Margaret (Gack) Stoeckinger, both of whom have preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death on Oct. 27, 1967, by her husband, Joseph A. Belting, whom she had married on Aug. 31, 1940, in St. Joseph Church. Mildred is survived by two sisters-in-law, Lucile Stoeckinger of Springfield, Ill., and Martha Walker of Bakersfield, Calif. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews.

Mildred retired in 1978, after 37 years at the University of Notre Dame, where she had been the secretary to the ticket manager. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rosary Society of the church.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Joseph Church, with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.
