Nellie R. Austin, 63, of South Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9 a.m., Monday, in her residence. She was born on Sept. 15, 1933, in Waterloo, Ala., and lived in the South Bend area for 45 years, coming from Alabama.
On April 11, 1952, as Nellie R. Benson, she married Harvey Austin in Mississippi. Surviving, with her husband, are three sisters, Shirley Smith of Waterloo, Ala., and Robbie Michael and Mary Bevis, both of Florence, Ala. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan L. Austin, on Aug. 12, 1995.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., today, at the South Side General Baptist Church, 1615 S. Spring St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, in the church, with burial following at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Mrs. Austin was a member of the church. She was president of the Women's Missionary Society of the church. She was also treasurer of the church and a teacher in the junior church school. Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main, Mishawaka, is handling arrangements.
