Cleophes Austin

Jan. 20, 1920 - July 14, 2000

Elder Cleophes Austin, 80, of Milwaukee, Wis., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away following a brief illness on Friday, July 14, in his residence.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1920, to the union of Elder Grandberry and Mrs. Austin. He and Daisy Lee Jamerson were married in South Bend. He lived in South Bend for many years until moving to Milwaukee.

Elder Austin was a faithful member of Pentecostal Cathedral Church for many years, where he served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent. He later moved to Milwaukee and was a member of Little Hill Church of God in Christ.

Loving family members who survive include his devoted wife, Daisy; a daughter, Youlanda Fay (Wydell) Hall of Milwaukee; four sons, Preston Austin of Milwaukee, Robert Jamerson of Houston, Texas, Willie Winston, Jr., and Hansen Austin, both of South Bend; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth Star, Mable Alford and Mary Austin, all of South Bend, and Beatrice Quinones of Paramount, Calif.; five brothers, William Austin of South Bend, Lavelle Austin of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Roy Austin of Hemet, Calif., Arvester Austin of Morena Valley, Calif., and Everett Austin of Columbus, Ga.; four godchildren; a godsister; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 24, in the Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends may call in the church one hour prior to the services.
