Vincent J. Augustine

An eight hour search for their father ended late Tuesday afternoon for two brothers when they found the body of Vincent J. Augustine, 78 year old retired barber, of 901 E. Miner Street, in the St. Joseph river. Coroner Dr. Edward S. Shelly today returned a verdict of suicide.

 

Augustine was born in Italy in 1879. He was married to Rose Simeri in Italy. He is survived by six sons, Nicholas, Samuel, Dominic, Thomas and Patrick, all of South Bend and John of Manhattan Beach, Calif; five daughters, Mrs. Catherine Nieson of Hanford, Calif., Mrs. Mary Kellam, of San Francisco, Mrs. Frances Gillespie of Kokomo, Mrs. Joseph Lews of San Francisco, and Theresa, of South Bend; 20 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Philomenia Calvi of Boston.

 

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. if St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas F. Peyton, CSC. Pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call in the Hickey Funeral Home.
