Elbert L. Ashcroft

Elbert L. Ashcroft, who resided with his daughter, Mrs. George F. Eberhart, 1402 E. Jefferson Blvd., died at 4:45 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He had been in failing health for eight years.

 

He was born in Janesville, Wis., Aug. 22, 1872, and resided here for the last 12 years, coming from Los Angeles, Calif. From 1925 to 1950 he was the western distributor for Do More Chair Co., Elkhart. He retired in 1950.

 

He is survived by his daughter; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Bubb Funeral Home.

ASHCROFT - Funeral services for Elbert L. Ashcroft, 89, of 1402 E. Jefferson Blvd., who died Monday, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel. Rev. John H. Meengs, Ph. D., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

 

Friends may call in the Bubb Funeral Chapel after 3 p.m. today.

 

Pallbearers will be Donald A. Bolinger, Kenneth Shirk, Charles B. Fair, Dwight Snyder Jr., Russell Fry and Rex Smith.

 

Mr. Ashcroft was the father of Mrs. George F. Eberhart, with whom he lived.
