Esta Lee Armstrong

Esta Lee Armstrong, 91, of 11966 Blue Bonnet Lane, Granger, Ind., a former resident of 26883 W. Main Street, Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the Life Care Center of Plainwell, Mich. She had been in failing health for the past few years. Mrs. Armstrong was born on Dec. 23, 1906, in Linton, Ind., as one of three daughters to Charles and Addie (Hackett) Inman.

 

She was married as Esta Inman on June 22, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, to Willard E. Armstrong, who preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Alma Bledsoe and Mae Spousta; and by a child, David. She is survived by four children, Nick Armstrong and his wife Barbara of Granger, Nina Cripps and her husband Robert of Vicksburg,Mich., Nancy Blankenship and her husband Roger of Rocky Mount, Va., and Ned Armstrong and his wife Carolyn of Burke, Va.; and by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

 

She was active in the Edwardsburg United Methodist Church, was a member of the Edwardsburg Monday Evening Club and the Order of Eastern Star of St. Johns, Mich. She moved to Edwardsburg about 1950, from Clarks Summit, Pa., and lived in Edwardsburg until 1994. She was a loving, faithful and dedicated mother who inspired her family to be the best that they could be.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home in Edwardsburg, where friends may call from one hour prior to 11 a.m. services on Friday. Burial will follow in the Edwardsburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hope United Methodist Church of Edwardsburg.
