SOUTH BEND - Mary Archangela Antonelli, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN. She was 89 years old. She was born November 1, 1920, in South Bend, a daughter of Nicola and Melania (Martelli) Antonelli, who have preceded her in death. She was also preceded by two brothers and their wives, John & Pauline Antonelli, Anthony & Marjorie Antonelli; aunt & uncles, Nicolo & Rosaria Bada; and cousins, Mary Bada Mellott and Algie Bada. Miss Antonelli retired from the Uniroyal Corp. in Mishawaka in 1973 following 33 years of employment. She then worked at the University of Notre Dame as a secretary in the Financial Aid Office, retiring in 1985. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, was a Docent at the Snite Museum of Art, and volunteered at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and The Center for History. She is survived by nieces, Joyce (Dan) Antonelli Farkas of Punta Gorda, FL, Rita Antonelli of Olathe, KS, Paula (Bill) Antonelli Croy of Punta Gorda, FL; and nephew, Roland (Barbara) Antonelli of Casa Verde, AZ. Also surviving are five cousins, Linda (John) Mellott Drummond of Elkhart, Rose (Sal) Bada Pontecorvo and Anthony (Delores) Bada of Fort Wayne, IN, Jim (Jan) Mellott of Elkhart and Carol (Mark) Abrams of Gaithersburg, MD; along with six great-nieces and nephews, and seven great-greatnieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank everyone at St. Paul's Retirement Community who assisted Mary with her care. Visitation will be Friday, May 14, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. by the parish and Daughters of Isabella. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, where visitation will also occur one hour prior to Mass. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery, where Mary will be laid to rest next to her parents. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Mary A.
